Description of problem: Libreoffice 6.2.8 version is outdate from November'19. The new stable version is 6.3.4 (could we can security problems? Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Libreoffice & Mageia 7 How reproducible: Compare stable version installed in Mageia with The last stable version according to official web of Libreoffice Steps to Reproduce: 1. Look libreoffice version of Mageia (6.2.8) 2. Check the last stable version with support. 3. The Libreoffice version of Mageia is outdate.
As per https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Updates_policy#Version_Policy switching to a new version in a stable release is only done in exceptional circumstances in order to ensure users do not run into problems due to new versions not being backward compatible with the existing versions. As per https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/ 6.2.8 is still listed in the supported available versions, so changing this bug report to a request for a backport, if the packager(s) handling libreoffice chooses to provide it.

I wonder if our Policy could be discussed to be inched it up a bit, to suggest what upstream recommend as safe. https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/ currently do suggest 6.3.5 (6.4.0, 6.4.1 are currently for the early adopter/enthusiast) For the rare cases someone would like to downgrade we have our downgrade option.
Hi! That's why I opened this bug, because in the official web of Libreoffice, Their recomend the 6.3.5 version for business environments. It is now in backports repository? Greetings!!
Hello! How are we doing on this request? Any solution to it? In the official website they indicate that the end of life of Libreoffice 6.2.8. was in November 2019, and the end of life of Libreoffice 6.3.5 will be in May 2020 which is already close. I think we should accelerate the updates of libreoffice and bring it closer to stable releases of the application. Greetings!

As of a few minutes ago, it is no longer listed on that download page. They only list stable versions 6.3.5 and 6.4.2. As Jose stated, the published EOL for the 6.3 series is the end of May. So, since the 6.2 series is no longer supported upstream, I'm changing this back to an update request. I am, of course, leaving it up to the packagers to decide which to provide, but since the EOL of the 6.3 series is so close we should give careful consideration to updating to the 6.4 series. It is most likely that we will provide a 6.4 series version in Mageia 8, and I would think that bringing the Mageia 7 version to the same level would facilitate upgrades to Mageia 8 when it is released.

Summary: Request for backport of Libreoffice 6.3.4 for Mageia 7. => Request for update of Libreoffice from the now-unsupported 6.2.8 version for Mageia 7.
The fact that it's not supported upstream isn't necessarily as relevant for libreoffice as it is for some other packages. As long as we're still able to patch security issues, we're OK. We sync this package with Fedora (Fedora 30 for 6.2.x in Mageia 7) which will be supported for another couple months. After that, security patches may still work for us as they have at times in the past. If not, we'll have to resync with Mageia 8 (Fedora 32) for 6.4.x and update it. Note that it's not a simple update, as there's lots of supporting libraries that need to be updated too.
Oh I know it's not a simple update. I remember very well the big problems we had with a previous one for MGA6. Was it just last year?
closing this one as but 26641 is for a LO update. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 26641 ***
