I usually just update it by performing youtube-dl -U as root.
That saves the time to push an update to official repos for the time being.

MGA7-64 Plasma on Lenovo B50
No installation issues. This package was not installed before, added youtube-dl-gui.
Used youtube-dl-gui to retrieve and play my two favorite Muppet Show fragments: manamana and Bohemian Rhapsody. Life is great!!!!
