I think the problem needs to be reported upstream, as there is nothing the packager can do about it. One of the problems with boinc, is that there are so many ways it can be started. Experimenting with different ways of starting it could cause problems for the boinc project, making it very difficult to qa test. I've been running boinc since it became available, as a replacement for seti-athome, and it's been working fine. I'm updating bug 1690 to get it pushed to updates.

(In reply to comment #3) > I think the problem needs to be reported upstream, as there is > nothing the packager can do about it. > @ Fabian I don't have time to look good, please search upstream whether this is a known issue maybe here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_forum.php?id=10 and if it isn't, please report it http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/ReportBugs and give us feedback Thanks :)

Hi, This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment. Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2. Thanks :) Cheers, marja

In Mageia 2, this problem is still present. In Mageia 3, the problem is fixed.

Perhaps, a problem with wxGTK update and boinc-client package not recompiled against.
I fixed two bugs in boinc-client package ( bug 9108 https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9108 and bug 9109 https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9109 ). I also find that the boinc_gui missing menu_bar problem is fixed in the boinc Mageia3 package ( boinc-manager-7.0.36-2.mga3.x86_64.rpm ). I try to backport to my Mageia 2 system ( Xfce x86_64 ) all of the version 7.0.36-2 of boinc packages. It was a success. After repackaging the 7.0.36-2 version, I now be able to use the BOINC Manager with no problem on my Mageia 2 system. That's great really.
Mageia 2 is no more supported. Closing.
