Description Morgan Leijström 2020-01-03 01:14:26 CET
Our packaged version was released 2015.
May 2019 the next point release was made and is still latest.
From the notes there should be no regressions.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install our rpm
2. Play and get addicted
3. Want more

If made, i can try rpm packaged for mga7 64 bit, using i7, Nvidia-latest, Plasma, large screen.

In Cauldron, just done: Fri Jan 3 by daviddavid
- new version: 2019.05
Looks like you (DavidG) saw this bug & did it! Hence the assignment to yourself.

>From the notes there should be no regressions
If this gets pushed as an M7 update (which Morgan could test, please), it will need an advisory.

Had old version installed, updated cleanly, two deps it did not have before, expected by functionality:

$ sudo urpmi --searchmedia "Core Updates Testing" openscad
För att tillfredsställa beroenden kommer följande paket att installeras:
  Paket Version Release Arkitektur
(media "Core Updates")
  lib64qt5gamepad5 5.12.6 1.mga7 x86_64
  qtgamepad5 5.12.6 1.mga7 x86_64
(media "Core Updates Testing")
  openscad 2019.05 1.mga7 x86_64

Tested some examples like the old version had, incl animation: OK
Played with new examples using new parametric customiser pane: OK
Saved, opened, rendered, exported STL, checked using slic3r: OK

System: mga7-64 updated (not to testing except this package), Nvidia-curent, Plasma

Looking good to me :)

I see that fedora was impacted with an issue: https://github.com/openscad/openscad/issues/2965

Do you think it is similar for us? if yes there is an upstream fixes.
Comment 5 Morgan Leijström 2020-01-04 15:37:55 CET
I can not reproduce that crash; instead i for both tests in OpenSCAD Console get:

Total rendering time: 0 hours, 0 minutes, 0 seconds
Rendering finished.

Which seem perfectly OK, and I can continue using it like adding script code.

Reading further in that issue you reference, it seem to do with building flags used, and Qt. Seem to be OK with your version :)

( BTW next version seem to have come long, so probably I will ask you again whenever that is out https://github.com/openscad/openscad/projects/6 )

Assigning to QA,

Advisory:
=============================

Current version of openscad is nearly 4 years old (March 2015), so
this updates openscad to the latest release which is supported and maintained
upstream. And also it fixes some upstream bugs.

=============================

Packages in 7/core/updates_testing:

openscad-2019.05-1.mga7.i586.rpm
