Description Patric Schramm 2019-12-31 12:58:21 CET
Description of problem:

Loading a large project in QGIS sometimes resultes in a loop and the loading process never finishes (have to kill the process). This error was fixed in the latest release of qgis 3.4.14 so it would be good to stay up to date in the 3.4 branch.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

qgis-3.4.8-1.mga7

Steps to Reproduce:

1.Load large project files with embedded data

Thank you both for reporting the fault, and pointing to its resolution (version 3.4.14).
In fact this has just been done in Cauldron. Do for M7 too?

MGA7-64 Plasma on Lenovo B50
No installation issues (apart from the remark that this installs 205 packages because of all dependencies)
Searched in vain for a large project, found bug 19774 for QGIS , but I don't get any download from that link
Continuing search.

Requests to download the larger files are not honored. Giving up on that path.
Anyone any better than OK'ing on clean install??

Theres training material also here..

and from the wiki page (randomly), you can download a lare shapefile without registering here..

Tried with my research project. Works fine for me.
Comment 7 Herman Viaene 2020-01-29 10:00:57 CET
At installation from MCC: qgis-grass cannot be selected.
# urpmi qgis-grass
Following packages cannot be installed because f dependencies on packages which are olde than the ones already installed:
lib64sqlite3-devel-3.28.0-1.mga7
lib64proj-devel-6.1.0-1.mga7
lib64gdal-devel-2.4.1-2.1.mga7
grass-7.6.1-2.mga7
lib64geotiff-devel-1.5.1-1.mga7
qgis-grass-3.4.15-1.mga7

The cause is the lib64sqlite3-devel-3.28.0-1.mga7 which is older than the version drawn in by Firefox. Proeeded without qgis-grass.

Downloaded shapefile tnclands and tried to open it in qgis. Got as far as the selection dialogue for a reference system. Picked a North American, but the dialogue kept coming back. In the end I had to kill the process.

BTW, the shapefile is only 18Mb, I doubt whether that qualifies as "large". The bugs in QGIS refer to files of 2Gb.
I feel inadequate to conclude anyway on this update.
Comment 8 Thomas Andrews 2020-02-11 22:40:18 CET
Decided to check on the qgis-grass dependency problem noted in Comment 7.

Installed the older version of the packages, except for the devel package. On my test machine, that drew in 252 dependencies, but there were no installation issues.

Immediately after, I used the qarepo tool to obtain just the three packages from Comment 2 that I wanted to update. Mageia Update did not object to anything, and all three updated with no issues.

Based on that, and based on the reporter saying in Comment 6 that it worked for him, I'm going to give this an OK and validate. Advisory in Comment 2.
