Description Otto Rothbauer 2019-12-19 13:14:34 CET
DMageia 7 was only updated via the installer. Then there was a kernel update. Then came the message Kernelpanic. The new installation via DVD does not work. No programs were installed. The installation was canceled.
Probably the 32-bit version cannot be installed.
The laptop used has a processor with over 1800 MHz and a RAM of 1 GB. It should be enough.

A bit more information please.

* Can you say briefly what your system comprises: processor, graphics hardware, disc layout.
* What ISO were you trying to install? For 32-bit, it would be one of the Classic or XfceLive. Or on-line.
* 1Gb RAM is tight, but should be OK with a modest installation: one of the slimmer desktops.
* What desktop were you installing?
* Did you try the XfceLive ISO in LIVE mode to see whether that worked - if very slowly.
* You say "Mageia 7 was only updated via the installer". Does this mean you asked for updates as part of the [Classic] installation?
* Did you try installing without updates? Did the installed system still not work?
* Was the kernel panic during installation; or after re-booting the installed system (although you say it did not install)? If you update from the installed system, you should have the possibility to exclude the kernel update if that is what caused you grief.

My system is as follows:
Processor: Pentium ® M 1.86 GHz
RAM: 1020632 KiB
Graphics: 1024 x 768 (Unknown)
The X. org. Foundation
Disc: DVD player

I did the upgrade. That worked until an update came. Then the ad came Kernelpanic.
Then I installed from the DVD. Everything went well. After the restart, Kernelpanic came.
I installed the plasma.
I have now also tested Xfce-Live. It was very slow and ultimately got stuck.
I installed without updates.
The kernel did not panic during the installation.
I had no problems with version 6.
I also have 64-bit systems that also have problems.
After a long break, the system hangs and can only be accessed with Ctrl, Alt and Delete. Be opened again.
Graphics problems also occur. With a computer, the desktop flickers constantly when logging on.
I think version 7 is not mature.
