Would you be interested in having xchroot for Mageia? Perhaps I can adapt the openSUSE rpm for your distribution: https://build.opensuse.org/project/requests/home:estellnb:elstel https://www.elstel.org/xchroot/ The program allows to run GUI applications from a chroot environment transparently with audio support. That means you add a desktop file for the host installation and you can run the chroot application via file associations or the GUI menu. Besides this the program is also handy for low level tasks like bootloader installation because it mounts /dev, /sys and /proc automatically. That is why it would basically also pay off to have it at the rescue console: > xchroot /mnt > grub-install /dev/sda ... is all you need to do
Component: RPM Packages => New RPM package request
Thank you for your interest. Assigning this package request to all packagers collectively. On a voluntary basis, one of them might, if there are no license or other legal issues, want to integrate it to the distribution and maintain it for bug and security fixes. You Elmar might also want to join the packager team to maintain this piece of software: see https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Becoming_a_Mageia_Packager. Your offer: > Perhaps I can adapt the openSUSE rpm for your distribution is decent. Please do pursue it. If you do, and the result - at least the package spec file(s) - is small enough, it could be attached to this bug.
