Description ivan propez 2019-12-15 18:31:29 CET
Description of problem:
With the kernel 5.1, it's OK but need a 1mn delay to launch the connection, after message "pas de connexion configurée"
BUT after update to kernel 5.3 and now 5.4.2, the network center cannot see my provider-box, only the boxes of my neighbors.

If I relaunch the komputer with the kernel 5.1, it's OK with delay after message "pas de connexion configurée"

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1.5.1 ok with delay 1mn
2.5.3 or 5.4.2 No connections with my provider-box
3.5.1 ok with delay 1mn
Comment 1 Lewis Smith 2019-12-17 17:33:33 CET
Is this Wifi?
For both a does-work (with delay) kernel, and then with a does-not-work kernel, please do:
1)
 $ lspci -v
and post the output (just the paragraph for the device) here.
 AND
2)
save the output from dmesg to a text file, for example:
 $ dmesg > dmesgOK.txt
or
 $ dmesg > dmesgBad.txt
and attach these files to this bug.

Note that the bluetooth is always ok with the two kernels.

Comment 7 ivan propez 2020-02-27 16:25:56 CET
With new wifi-box with "ac" protocol, it's well.
The kernels post 5.1 and rtl8821ce do not recognise the "old" protocols "n". It is why my computer saw the boxes of my neighbours and not my old box with just the "n" protocol.
Now with a box with "ac" protocol, is good. But if I'll move with my laptop computer, I could no obtain link with some wifi-box.
It's not a brillant advertising for Linux.

Thank you for reporting.

Please try new kernel in bug 24605 :)

Hi bug reporter and hi assignee and others involved,

Please reopen this bug report if it is still valid for Mageia 8 or 9(cauldron), and change "Version:" in the upper left of this report accordingly.

This report is being closed as OLD because it was filed against Mageia 7, for which support ended on June 30th 2021.

Thanks,
Marja
