Description of problem: Fresh install of Mageia 7 with Mate desktop. Everything seems fine except for the Advanced MATE Menu item failes to populate correctly when added to the panel. Produces the error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/mate-menu/mate-menu.py", line 202, in PopulatePlugins exec("from {plugin_module} import pluginclass".format(plugin_module=plugin_module)) File "<string>", line 1, in <module> File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/mate_menu/plugins/applications.py", line 38, in <module> import matemenu ImportError: No module named matemenu Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Persisted after more than 1 installation. Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install Mageia 7 with MATE desktop 2.Add Advanced MATE Menu to panel 3.Open Advanced MATE Menu
Thank you for reporting this. Trying it out. This 'advanced' menu is not one of those offered by a standard Mate installation; had to install it: - mate-menu-18.04.3-1.mga7.noarch - mozo-1.22.1-1.mga7.noarch - python-configobj-5.0.6-4.mga7.noarch - python2-setproctitle-1.1.10-6.mga7.x86_64 - python2-xlib-0.23-3.mga7.noarch "An advanced menu for MATE. Supports filtering, favourites, auto-session, and many other features." Confusingly called just 'mate-menu'. You can add it to the panel, but on opening it it shows just the 'Places' & 'System' components, and complains "Failed to load extension: applications" and the trace-back as described above. Hi bug reporter and hi assignee and others involved, Please reopen this bug report if it is still valid for Mageia 8 or 9(cauldron), and change "Version:" in the upper left of this report accordingly. This report is being closed as OLD because it was filed against Mageia 7, for which support ended on June 30th 2021. Thanks, Marja
