Description of problem: I ca't send a libreoffice document directly when, the file isn't attached when open Thunderbird Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Libreoffice 6.2.3.2 How reproducible: Create a libreoffice document and select the send mail option, the file isn't attached to thunderbird. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open libreoffice and create a document. 2. Select the send mail option. 3. The file isn't attached to Thunderbird.
For comparison, in my case, directly from LibreOffice Writer, File-Send-Document as ODT raises Claws-mail, but just the main window, no new message window nor pre-attachment. Up to you to carry on. Doing the same thing with Kmail as the default e-mail program not only raises Kmail new message window, but pre-attaches the document. [In fact this was not solid; it did this once, crashed; a second time OK, then I could not repeat it]. I am not sure that this is really a bug. If File-Send-as <whatever> pops up the correct default e-mail program, then how far that is pushed depends on that program. The fact that Kmail seems to raise a message compose window, and pre-attach the document, is just 'nice'. So, Jose, if from LibreOffice you do File-Send-as ..., does it raise Thunderbird? If so, not a bug in my view. Every e-mail program cannot be expected to behave identically in such external matters. CC'ing Florian for his opinion re Thunderbird.

Thunderbird runs new messge window but, without the document attached. In Mageia 6 works perfectly, but the new updates of Mageia 7 and Thunderbird have it leaved works
Can you look in "ps ax" to see the actual command line with which TB is being launched ? The syntax may have changed for attaching a file to TB from the command line, or current TB may not recognize the filetype whereas it did before.

OK, so from a command line issue /usr/bin/thunderbird mailto:?subject=noname&attach=file:///tmp/lu10589yc94xh.tmp/lu10589yc94xs.tmp/noname.odt but replace "/tmp/lu10589yc94xh.tmp/lu10589yc94xs.tmp/noname.odt" with the path to some known .odt file of your own that currently exists, and see if TB opens correctly. If it doesn't, the problem is the invocation syntax being used by LO, probably that the TB syntax has changed. Actually, if it does, that would still imply a problem with the LO invocation, but it would be something more subtle like an embedded unprintable character.

I forgot to say that, if you want to send e-mails with attachments using thunderbird, the command line looks like this: thunderbird -compose "to=test@example.com,subject='A test',attachment=$HOME/Documents/template.txt"
So the problem is with LO using old TB syntax.

To conclude, under LXDE, there is no problem sending a document via e-mail from LO using thunderbird. So, I suspect the issue is related to Plasma 5 (bug 25471 seems to indicate that the DE in use is Plasma 5). If I am right, under Plasma 5, /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/senddoc creates a mailto URL with an attach option and directly gives that URL to the program that is declared as the preferred application for e-mails without making any transformation. If the preferred application for e-mails is kmail, there is no problem because kmail can handle mailto URLs with attach option. If the preferred application for e-mails is not kmail but another application that is not able to handle mailto URLs with attach option, the issue occurs.
Hi, I have tried to put in the default email aplication "/bin/thunderbird", selecting from bin folder. Now I can share the document directly frome writer and calc and all libreoffice aplications. It could be a solution to this bug? Tried in Mageia 7 64 bits
Hi, After the last updates, I can send the documents directly by Thunderbird even if it is not selected as the default application in system preferences. I close the bug. If someone has the same problem again, they will open a new one. Greetings and thanks.
