Description psyca 2019-07-10 21:41:49 CEST
Description of problem:
I have Mageia 7 installed on an old 32bit system.
If i start spyder3, it shows for a short time the splash screen of spyder3 and crashs after that (closing without an error message).

From console:
spyder3
libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile
libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile
Speicherzugriffsfehler (Speicherabzug geschrieben)

Just a sidenote:
Because the test system is old it doesnt support SSE2.

Sidenote was wrong. CPU specs says it support SSE2.
Comment 2 psyca 2019-07-11 03:01:51 CEST
Just tried it in an VirtualBox VM with an 32bit installation again (on an 64bit system).
spyder3 crashes here, too.

Set status to critical/broken.

Severity: normal => critical

Hello,
I just installed spyder3 in a VM x86_64 in LLXQt DE. It works fine, except that it doesn't close properly.

Yea. On 64 bit its ok but this is an bugreport for i586 (32bit) not 64bit (see report/top)

Comment 6 Philippe Makowski 2020-11-14 15:16:41 CET
I pushed spyder-3.3.6-1.mga7.noarch.rpm in testing
Comment 7 David Walser 2021-06-29 01:11:53 CEST
Philippe forgot to assign this to QA. It is supposed to fix a crash on i586 on systems that don't support SSE2, if I'm reading this correctly.

Mageia 7 is EOL since July 1st 2021.
There will not have any further bugfix for this release.

You are encouraged to upgrade to Mageia 8 as soon as possible.

@reporter, if this bug still apply with Mageia 8, please let us know it.

@packager, if you work on the Mageia 7 version of your package, please check the Mageia 8 package if issue is also present. In this case, please fix the Mageia 8 version instead.

This bug report will be closed OLD if there is no further notice within 1st September 2021.
Comment 9 Thomas Andrews 2021-07-09 03:10:37 CEST
The update WAS sent to QA before the cut-off date, so, I'll test it anyway.

The reporter indicated in Comment 1 that his cpu does support sse2, after all. However...

I installed spyder and its numerous dependencies on my Dell Inspiron 5100's mga7 Xfce system. This hardware uses a P4, which definitely does support sse2. I tried running spyder3 in a terminal, and it didn't crash.

I went ahead with the update, and it still didn't crash.

Because I wasn't able to reproduce the problem, I can't say that it is fixed. However, the update doesn't appear to do any harm, so I'm going to OK and validate.

To the reporter: If this problem persists in Mageia 8, please file a new bug report for it.
