After Installation of mga7 with lxde (as main-desktop) I noticed locales-es and spellchecking -es are installed as well as localized firefox packages. Not severe, but maybe it is easy to fix.
If you uninstall locales-es, what packages does it want to remove ? (in case of some dep pulling it in)

already did all the uninstallation of es localized packages. No other packages were uninstalled. I just realized this, since some help files are big and take some time to download. e.g. for firefox in spanish language, 4 packages (firefox-es_AR,firefox-es_CL,firefox-es_ES,firefox-es_MX) are installed.

Created attachment 11119 [details] es selected on german installation this is not the latest installation, but the behaviour of selecting -es packages is the same.
Looks like a fallout of gimp recommending gimp-help, and gimp-help-es gets installed, pulling in locales-es did you get any question about gimp-help packages during install ?
Nope. Not after starting the download/installation process.
The selectLanguage step of the installer reports: * i18n_env: lang:de country:DE locale|lang:de_DE.UTF-8 locale|country:de_DE.UTF-8 LANGUAGE:de_DE.UTF-8:de * selectLanguage: pack_langs: gn:es_PY:es:de_DE:de utf8-flag: 1 I can't reproduce this without deliberately selecting Guarani as an additional language.

@Martin: I'll do another installation in a Virtual Machine, so I can give you all the steps needed to reproduce. if you choose LXDE, you get a more detailed package selection (15 groups). I assume, I select one or two of these groups.
@Mark, the language selection was made at the very beginning of the install, so before you chose anything else. If, when you reach the license acceptance dialogue, you switch to tty3 (Ctrl-Alt-F3 on real hardware, RightCtrl-F3 in VBox), you'll see the "selectLanguage: pack_langs:" message. IF the pack_langs list includes "es", the install will include -es packages, regardless of what you choose next.
hmm, strange. Did this installation just a few weeks ago and -es was installed and it already happend in mga6. For now I can't reproduce it anymore. Closing it as "Fixed".
