Description of problem: While trying to perform an upgrade from Mageia 6, the Mageia 7 RC installer got an error immediately after accepting the keyboard selection. The error message was "An error occurred. Can't call method "val" on an undefined value." Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Mageia 7 RC Installer How reproducible: Select Upgrade path. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Select Upgrade. 2. See the message that the system cannot be upgraded, recommending Install. 3. Select Continue with Upgrade anyway. 4. Accept default "US Keyboard" selection, click Next. 5. Receive message: "An error occurred. Can't call method "val" on an undefined value." 6. Installer enters a loop on this error, so attempt to upgrade can't continue.

Looking at the error in the installer log makes me suspect a bad download or copy (it's reading a file off the DVD, and looks to be getting duff data). Could you check the md5sum and try again with a different physical DVD.

You are apparently correct. The md5sum of the downloaded iso file is good, but the DVD that was created seems to have errors. I found a script online to check the md5sum of the DVD but it didn't work properly. I downloaded the much smaller net install iso file and booted from that to run the upgrade against the DVD iso file on disk, and that worked. Thanks for the help. I'll mark this solved now.
