Description John Valsamopoulos 2011-08-22 20:18:44 CEST
Is it possible to make an rpm for Mageia, of the program "Flacon"?

It's a program that splits a big single audio files (a music album ripped in a single file) in tracks (separate audio files) using the information in the cue sheet (the file that usually comes with thst kind of ripping).

The page in kde-apps: http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/Flacon?content=113388
You can find there the link for the source code (http://code.google.com/p/flacon/downloads/list?q=label:Latest), also links for some rpms (a Mandriva rpm included, but only 32-bit).

It's an application that was missing from KDE... and missing generally from Linux.
(I was going to make a request for "gcue2tracks" that I found only in a debian package and converted it successfully in rpm using "alien", or "splitalbum" which is a python script, but since I just found Flacon...)

Is it possible -if you make an rpm for Flacon- to make it also for 64-bit?

Thanks in advance

Imported in cauldron, so closing or backport to Mageia 1 ?
(it was not in mdv so no update)

Installation, at first it was not possible, because "shntool" was a dependency and there isn't a Mageia rpm. So, I installed the fedora rpm for "shntool".
Everything went OK. (I believe there's a way to install without dependencies, but I didn't remember the command, so I haven't tested that kind of installation).

"Flacon" works flawlessly.
I tested it with flac, wavpack & ape single files that split in single files, in all available formats:flac, mp3, ogg, wavpack, wav.
Very fast. Didn't notice or hear any mistakes.
Very good sounding quality of the output file.

In my opinion it's OK. Better than I expected.
Thanks.

Maybe you should consider to backport it, to Mageia 1.

Sorry, shntool is also in the works, but currently undergoing a review. Will be available soon. Thanks for the thorough report! :)
Will close this when shntool is available and if there is a decision about backport or not.

I have installed "Flacon" in Mageia 1, KDE 4.6.5 some days ago (downloaded from cauldron repos).
Same installation (shntool fedora rpm).

Works OK.
The same as I wrote in my previous comment #3 for Cauldron
Comment 6 Florian Hubold 2011-09-08 21:41:20 CEST
shntool is available in cauldron since August 31 ;)
Backport is considered, but backports are not yet open.
If there is a backport to test, i'll let you know!

I didn't noticed the availability of the shntool rpm.
Thanks for the information.

As backports won't be open anytime in the near future, and Mageia 2 is coming closer, i'm closing this.
