Description Adelson Oliveira 2019-05-31 03:51:17 CEST
Please, allow me to suggest updating gcc to its more recent stable version (9.1) in mageia 7 next release.

Thanks

No.

gcc 9 branch still has a lot of issues including miscompilations and causing data corruption on new kernels an so on, so we dont consider it production ready.

Not to mention switching compiler would mean triggering a full distro rebuild and fixing up all the fallout from it. That would cause a huge delay in the release process, and that is a no-go as we are already in release freeze and about to release our release candidate.

We prefer to stick with a compiler that has stabilized properly and will work well for Mageia 7 lifetime.

bigger version number is not always better...

I know some distros have switched to gcc 9, but thats their choice, and they will have to live with it.
