Description macxi 2019-05-13 15:13:54 CEST
Description of problem:
Mageia Welcome is white background, which does not allow reading the text with white letters.

I installed Mageia 7, beta 3 on a real machine, with the Live DVD Plasma 64 bit media. I added the media and installed the updates.
This machine has the Nvidia video card.

After the installation, Mageia Welcome was correctly with the blue background, however, after some updates last week, the background turned white.

Which version of MageiaWelcome is installed on your system?
Mine doesn't show this white background.

$ rpm -qa | grep "welcome"
mageiawelcome-1.97-1.mga7

Thanks for the report.
I'm updating my VM.
Can you launch mageiawelcome enabling the debug logs in console with this command:
QT_LOGGING_RULES=qml=true mageiawelcome
and report what is reported?
Which graphical driver do you use?

I restarted the Mageia 7 Beta 3 with kernel-desktop-5.0.7-4.mga7-1-1.mga7 and the Mageia Welcome worked correctly, with the blue background.

Thanks,

I presume that the problem is between kernel and nvidia driver.
Can you check that the driver is well built against the last kernel. Should be in /var/lib/dkms

Hi,
In /var/lib/dkms/nvidia340/kernel-5.1.1-desktop-1.mga7-x86_64, I think you can find a build directory and inside, a make.log file. This one can give information on the result of the built.
Comment 8 Martin Whitaker 2019-05-14 21:03:44 CEST
Note that a quick way to check what modules have been built and installed is to run the command

  /sbin/dkms status

Looks like it's working. I'm still checking.
After I start the computer with the Kernel 5.1.1-desktop-1.mga7 kernel, the Mageia Welcome app is working, with the blue background.

But the graphical mode seems to show some instability, so maybe the Nvidia driver is not running properly.

Hi
I do not know what happened, but everything is working properly now.
This installation of Mageia 7 beta 3 is on a machine with other installations of Mageia and its startup is not installed on mbr.
And it looks like the kernel 5.1.1-desktop was not running on Mageia 7 beta 3.
After I update the boot in mbr, the 5.1.1-desktop kernel has run properly on Mageia 7 beta 3.
Now the Mageia Welcome is correctly with the blue background and the nvidia board is installed properly and running stable.
Thank you for your help.
