For lack of anything better to try, I booted into run level 3, then as root executed a "dracut -f" to try to rebuild the initrd.

It didn't help. the "regular" boot still fails.

Raising this to release blocker. It needs to be fixed before RC isos are created.

Nope.

Proprietary drivers will never be release blockers as we have no control what so ever when/if the vendors will fix them...

We simply disable support for the proprietary drivers in ldetect-lst until they get fixed so we can re-enable support for it...

Having said that...

I have sent a bug-report to one of the nVidia devs requesting an updated 340.xx driver as it's supposed to be supported until end of 2019 regarding both new kernels and new xorg servers and the current driver is almost 11 months old...

I also found an old nVidia card at work that would use the nvidia340 driver so I'll try to see if we can work around it for now...

I installed the latest update to dkms-nvidia340-340.107-8.mga7.nonfree with high hopes that the problem would be solved. The system rebuilt the driver, but it still will not boot the nvidia graphics using the 5.1.0 kernel.
