Description of problem: After setting firewall to allow CUPS and SLP I could configure my wireless printer HP 4720. However, any attempt to print generates error Device Communication Error 5012 I have eveything updated in MGA 7 beta 2. Another computer with MGA 6 can print via network without problems.
I have the following cups packages installed: $ rpm -qa|grep cups $ rpm -qa|grep cups cups-pk-helper-0.2.6-3.mga7 cups-2.2.11-1.mga7 gutenprint-cups-5.2.14-2.mga7 cups-drivers-ptouch-1.4.2-2.mga7 lib64cups-filters1-1.22.3-1.mga7 cups-drivers-magicolor5440dl-1.2.1-22.mga7 cups-drivers-pegg-0.23-16.mga7 cups-drivers-magicolor5430dl-1.8.1-22.mga7 cups-drivers-lbp660-0.3.1-12.mga7 cups-drivers-magicolor2430dl-1.6.1-22.mga7 cups-drivers-foo2kyo-0.1.0a-16.mga7 cups-filesystem-2.2.11-1.mga7 cups-filters-1.22.3-1.mga7 cups-drivers-2008-14.mga7 python3-cups-1.9.74-2.mga7 cups-drivers-splix-2.0.1-0.20130826svn315.10.mga7 cups-drivers-m2300w-0.51-16.mga7 cups-common-2.2.11-1.mga7 cups-drivers-lz11-1.2-15.mga7 lib64cups2-2.2.11-1.mga7 cups-drivers-lxx74-0.8.4.2-16.mga7 cups-drivers-capt-0.1-17.mga7 cups-drivers-foo2zjs-0.0-1.20121012.11.mga7
What's the output of hp-check -i as root?

Please put the output in a text file and attach it here.
I'd check if that printer isn't duplicated in CUPS and/or HP Device Manager as well. I found a post about it here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1012562/device-communication-error-5012-hp-printer
I'm attaching the file hp-check.txt and hp-check.log.txt, the later is the hp-check.log that is created by the hp-check -i.

Uninstall/remove the printer from the HP Device Manager and then as root run: urpmi cups cups-common libdbus-1-devel python-gobject libjpeg-devel libcups2-devel libcups2 libusb1.0-devel libsane1-devel sane-backends ibnet-snmp-devel libopenssl0.9.8-devel libtool libgphoto-devel --auto Now try to add the printer again.
What's weird is that locate hplip.conf gives me: /home/kristoffer/.hplip/hplip.conf But looking at your output that file couldn't be found. Are you sure you've run hp-setup when you installed the printer and choose CUPS web interface?
Do you get the same problem if you boot a Live iso and setup the printer?
MGA7 beta 2 live iso works fine but there are differences: Live iso sees a HP Deskjet 4720 Series Linux HP Deskjet Ink Advantage Ultra 4729 All in One Printer I've tested only the second option. MGA 7 beta 2 installed and updated sees only HP Deskjet 4720 Series Printer In live iso there is no HP systray and via MCC there is no option to print a test page. But I opened libreoffice, created a odt file and printed OK, I also exported to PDF and printed OK with okular.
@ the Mageia tools maintainers and all packagers Please help debug this issue.

Kristoffer Grundström, Sorry, didn't notice you've sent two other messages before that to test Live iso. I'm new at mageia. I've installed printer via MCC, as I successfully did with MGA 6. Did not use hp-setup or hp-device-manager. Following your instructions, I've used hp-device-manager to remove printer and as root did # urpmi cups cups-common libdbus-1-devel python-gobject libjpeg-devel libcups2-devel libcups2 libusb1.0-devel libsane1-devel sane-backends ibnet-snmp-devel libopenssl0.9.8-devel libtool libgphoto-devel --auto the output was, No package named libcups2-devel No package named libcups2 No package named libusb1.0-devel No package named libsane1-devel No package named ibnet-snmp-devel No package named libopenssl0.9.8-devel Couldn't reconfigure the printer with hp-device-manager because it required a USB connection. Well, I could connect via USB but decided to first test MCC again since in principle it is the printer itself that requires a USB connection for network configuration. The printer is already connected to my network since long time ago. Trying MCC, this time two printers was available for choosing the 4720 and the 4729 (there is just one 4729!) and I choose the proper one. As in Live Iso, during configuration the option to print a test page wasn't available (MGA6 did have this option). Tested printing with a libreoffice file and it worked fine as in Live Iso. Summary: MGA 6 configuration works fine and allows for testing page printing. MGA 6 doesn't have hp-device-manager or hp-systray MGA 7 beta2 configuration now works but doesn't allow for testing page printing as in Live Iso; MGA 7 beta2 has hp-systray but hp device manager doesn't see the printer if I don't connect it via USB for reconfiguring the printer itself, I would guess hp-device-manager doesn't have network access to see the printer. Finally, about .hplip, I have, $ ls .hplip/ hp-doctor.lock hp-doctor.log hplip.conf hp-systray.lock Don't if this should close the bug or not. I can print via wireless now. Thanks
I mean, Don't know if this should close the bug or not. I can print via wireless now. Thanks again
I think Hp-device-manager has a problem in MGA 7 beta2. I would say its the culprit here ...
Closing as now Adelson says he can print.
