Description Adelson Oliveira 2019-03-21 20:01:38 CET
Description:
After updating nvidia to 418.56-1 version, mageia-prime-install doesn't get to a graphical login

mageia-prime-uninstall makes it possible to get the graphical support back although with an annoying message during boot:

"Detected loaded display driver kernel module which conflicts with the driver the X server is configured to use. Startup of the X server may now fail."
However, this message was already issued before updating nvidia's packages.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
nvidia-418.56-1 + mageia-prime (at mageia 7 beta2 or cauldron)

How reproducible:
Had it working with kernel 5.0.3. Stopped working after updating nvidia packages to version 418.56-1. Thus, just update nvidia's packages and try mageia-prime-install.

Comment 4 Han Willemsen 2019-03-23 12:26:59 CET
After upgrading to kernel-desktop-5.0.3-2.mga7 I have back my nvidia support instead of nouveau.
Comment 5 Adelson Oliveira 2019-03-23 15:49:53 CET
Yes, it is working for me too.

However, I would like to add that, if mageia-prime intends to provide the choice to interchange between integrated and dedicated GPU's there may be some problems yet. Not only because of that annoying message about X server possibly failing, other functionalities like recognizing an attached monitor is also not working.
This is another bug ...

thanks a lot

Adelson, unless the mageia-prime maintainer tells you very soon that that's not needed: Please file separate bug reports for those issues.
