I am trying to use netinstall on laptops with USB/RJ45 adapters. I don't pass to connect to the DHCP server with it. In addition, in the screen where i can choose the network card, i see a line with the number 0.
Created attachment 10876 [details] network card screen
What happens when you select that network card ? The DHCP server just doesn't answer ? Check tty3 for more detail. If the card requires a special driver, you may have to use a nonfree install image.

from https://cateee.net/lkddb/web-lkddb/USB_NET_DRIVERS.html it does not need any nonfree driver Bus 003 Device 020: ID 0bda:8152 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8152 Fast Ethernet Adapter Bus 003 Device 019: ID 0b95:7e2b ASIX Electronics Corp. AX88772B Fast Ethernet Controller are my 2 adapters
from tty3 i can see that it asks for a DHCP Discover and then <sleep> <sleep> <sleep> <sleep> and no answer.
Does the adapter work (get an ip) if you connect it to a running Mageia 7 (Cauldron) system ?

If you have access to the dhcp server logs you should also be able to see the entire sequence logged there in the form of discover, offer, request, and ack. The dhcp server is my freebox, i will try to setup it somewhere else for the tests.

Does it work with the Mga 6.1 netinstall ? http://ftp.free.fr/mirrors/mageia.org/distrib/6.1/x86_64/install/images/Mageia-6.1-netinstall-x86_64.iso
* Just tried on an other machine using mageia 7 and adapter works correctly * I will test with Mageia-6.1-netinstall-x86_64.iso in a few minutes
works OK on mageia 6.1
Ok, so we have regressed then. I'll dig out my usb adapter and take a look if I can reproduce
it does not install but this is a new bugreport i will open :)
i have 2 other adapters, i will do tests a report here.
(In reply to Nicolas Lécureuil from comment #15) > it does not install but this is a new bugreport i will open :) You can use the mga6.1 boot.iso and point it at cauldron distrib tree and it should work (if the mga6 kernel sees your harddisk)
