Description of problem: Please reference https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=55636 This problem started from Mandriva 2010.0 powerpack. Now I'm running Mageia 1 on the same PC and this problem is still there. All the hardware is the same. I still have to use hda-verb to run the script described in the above bug report and the sound would work. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Mageia 1 and the sound is not worked, unless I run the script 2. 3.
Colin, is this something you can help with?

Interesting. Fraklin, is there any chance you can try the latest kernels seeing as this is a kernel side issue. Thomas, what's the best kernel to use on mga1?

Sure, please tell me which kernel and where it is (updates / cauldron...) As in the comment 11-16 of reference link (qa.mandriva), someone once give me a kernel which the sound would work. However, it was not applied to the official kernel package in Mandriva...

I'd hope that the more recent kernels (e.g. the ones in cauldron at least) would fair better (testing the cauldron kernel is one option but I figured I'd ask Thomas as he may have a more appropriate suggestion :))

Okay. I'm in a business trip in China and can not try this until I go home. I'll let you know the newest result as soon as possible.
Created attachment 1213 [details] the script I need to run to get my audio work
I tried with Mageia 2 alpha 1 (KDE-live cd Asia-non-india version) and the problem is still there. I needed to run the script attached in comment 7 so that audio would work.

Set version to cauldron @ tmb If it is wrong to assign to you: please assign back to Bug Squad or (preferably) to someone who can fix this ;)

Pinging, because nothing has happened with this report for more than 3 months, it still has the status NEW or REOPENED. @ tmb Please set status to ASSIGNED if you think this bug was assigned correctly. If for work flow reasons you can't do that, then please put OK on the whiteboard instead.
Hi, This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment. Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2. Thanks :) Cheers, marja

I tested with Mageia 2 Live CD (KDE/Asia) and it worked without running the script. Later I'll reinstall my machine with Mageia 2 DVD and see if it works as well.
This problem is solved in Mageia 2.
