Description nikos papadopoulos 2019-02-10 22:14:31 CET
Description of problem:
Medit, or Mooedit, is a lightweight,
and stable, as it seems,
advanced text editor.

Medit's (text editor) version is very old!
(
see:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/mooedit/files/medit/
)

Mageia 6 has version
 1.1.1
from 2012!

Mageia Cauldron has version
 1.2.0
from 2014!

The latest version is
 1.2.92
from 2017!

Again,
I downloaded the Mageia 7 rpm (64bit), version 1.2.0,
and installed it in my Mageia 6 .
It didn't ask for any non existing dependencies
(since the version is very old).
I've been using it for a while.
Have not seen any major bugs
(I didn't notice any minor bugs, either).

So, I propose to update Mageia 6 to version 1.2.0 .

As for Mageia Cauldron,
you can try updating to the latest version.
Although,
I see most distributions still use version 1.2.0
( https://pkgs.org/download/medit ).

How reproducible:
every time

Steps to Reproduce:
1. on mageia 6, 64bit
2. install medit
3.

MGA6-32 MATE on IBM Thinkpad R50e
No installation issues.
Opened txt file, added one line, saved and opened the file witg pluma: shows OK.
Opened sql, pl, py, java, php files with medit. All look decently formatted and with color hihghlighting where usefull.
OK to go.
