the fix was already committed yesterday, since i'm still a novice packager, i'm still waiting on mentor to submit it...
it's submitted to cauldron do you think i should submit it as update for mageia 1 as well?
assigning to myself, it's being submitted as an update atm, awaiting build and preliminary testing...

I'm commenting here that the new version has no other noteworthy fixes other than the xpi being updated to allow FF5. so that's why even for cauldron i've opted to just patch this, when they actually will release a version, i'll use that for cauldron. the patch only enables this (unchanged)xpi to work with FF5 and comes from upstream.

ok, the update beid-middleware-4.0.0.r929-1.2 from updates/testing has been preliminary tested by myself, if it could be tested by someone else and pushed to updates. I would like to add that this version (4.0.0) seems also to work when the card is inserted only later, a page refresh seems to be enough to trigger the card reading procedure. the Announce text would be: This bugfix update fixes being able to use the .xpi firefox plugin file for FF5 too. This .xpi takes care of loading the necessary drivers for the smartcard authentication.

I can only confirm that it installs cleanly, and shows up as enabled in firefox under Add-ons/Extensions, on my i586 system.

well, nothing more can be tested short of being belgian and having a belgian smartcard eid and testing it with official gov sites... which i am and i did, so i think it's ok to be pushed to updates. you did have FF5 right?
Yes, ff5. Did you test on x86-64? If not, we still need someone to confirm it installs cleanly on x86-64, and shows up as enabled in ff5.
yeah, my tests are always in x86_64
Can someone from the sysadmin team push the srpm beid-middleware-4.0.0.r929-1.2.mga1.src.rpm from Core Updates Testing to Core Updates please. Advisory: This bugfix updates the Firefox Belgian identity card reader plugin in preparation for the update to Firefox 5.
