Description psyca 2018-12-25 20:15:36 CET
Based on:
https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23876

Description of problem:
Somehow it seems that the MGA-Kernel (desktop i586) doesnt boot on my Intel T2250 CPU Machine (with 945 iGPU).

Below three different messages i got on three different boots. Somehow if i boot with the Linus Kernel, which i could install after several trys to boot with the mga-kernel, it works everytime without problems.

Here are the messages (they have maybe typos, because i had to type them from screenshots i made with my mobilephone, as the /var/log/boot file was empty or corrupted if i tried to read them) :

Does kernel-desktop586 work for you ?

Comment 2 psyca 2018-12-26 14:49:48 CET
Oh. Not tested yet. Only tested "kernel-desktop" and "kernel-linus". I will try.
Comment 3 psyca 2018-12-26 20:47:16 CET
Hm. "kernel-desktop586" seems to work without problems.
What are the differences between the "kernel-desktop" from the 32-bit repositories and "kernel-desktop586"?
The other question is how to select it while installing from 32-bit media?
Comment 4 Thomas Backlund 2018-12-26 21:51:00 CET
The desktop kernel now enables PAE so it can address all available RAM and to get PTI support.

The installer should now detect missing pae support and default to desktop586.
This was changed after beta1 isos, so only way to check it for now is to try a network install or try the upcoming beta2 isos
