Description of problem: I have a all-in-one printer HP J6410. When I add the printer using system-config-printer, the printer is correctly added in cups but the scanner is not configured in sane (xsane and simple_scan say "no scanner found"). The scanner is correctly added using hp-setup. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: 1.launch system-config-printer 2.add the printer 3.

This is because s-c-p is supposed to detect HP multifunction devices and install lib(64)sane-hpaio1. This has been buggy going back to the MDV days. Whatever mechanism is used can't keep up with new devices, and is constantly breaking for old devices for which it used to work.

Has been fixed after Mageia 1 import and is not the problem here, else the scanner would not work at all, no matter with which program it was set up. What would be useful is what changes when the scanner is setup by hp-setup ...

What(In reply to comment #4) > i have same issue, scanning just doesn't work... sane doesn't find any scanner What scanner model would that be? Also i can only repeat what i've already asked for: What would be useful is what changes when the scanner is setup by hp-setup ... Also when setting the printer up via s-c-p, afterwards, if you launch "scanimage -L" or "sane-find-scanner" as root, does it find your scanner?

Clsoing as old because of no replies. Many system-config-printer problems and hplip issues have been fixed in between.
