Description Jack Surname 2018-12-09 08:28:27 CET
I installed mageia7 beta as a virtualbox virtual machine within Windows 7
I asked to install updates during the installation using HTTP
Recieved an error: "Aria not found" (Same error when I install mageia 6 at the same condition a year ago)

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create new virtual disk
2. Install mageia 7 Beta
3. Do you want to update? yes

Thanks for the report, Jack,

I thought there was an existing bug report about this issue, but can't find it. Maybe it wasn't in our Bugzilla, but on IRC or dev ml or so that someone mentioned it.

Anyway, assigning to the Mageia tools maintainers.

Please attach /root/drakx/report.bug.xz from that install to this bug report.

Thanks :-)

Note that it's quite common and normal to have problems installing updates
from cauldron.

With a stable release such as Mageia 6, the updates first go into updates
testing, then get moved to the updates repository.

With cauldron, as packages are built they are put directly into the release
repositories. As such, especially with packages that take quite a bit of time
to build, there are periods of time where some, but not all, of the packages
from a giving source rpm are available. Any attempt to install the update
during that period will fail. In addition, if a mirror syncs from the main
mirror during that time, that update will remain in a broken state until the
main repository has finished updating, and the mirror syncs again, which may
be hours later.

The general advice for installing cauldron updates, is that when a problem is
encountered, wait a few hours and see if it's reproducible before reporting
the problem.

Closing this bug. Please re-open if the problem can be reproduced in a consistent
manner.
