Description Ezequiel Partida 2018-11-26 04:16:33 CET
Description of problem:

While trying to install on a Dell Inspiron 3521 I get a scrabled screen after choosing to install from USB using UEFI Install. The first meny looks great but not aftewards.

Once I choose any of the options... Everything gets scrambled.

I could not find a way to change the kernel option to get a different resolution.

Please advice.

Hi Ezequiel,

Thanks for your report.

With which exact iso did this happen?

Would you like to become a QA ISO-tester, to see whether this issue still exists with the Mageia 7 beta 1 ISOs that are currently being tested?
If so, please read https://wiki.mageia.org/en/QA_ISO_testers and take their the mentioned steps.

There are 7beta1 Live ISOs and 7beta1 classical ISOs.

Setting "Version:" to cauldron, because this cannot be fixed in already released ISOs
Putting "(MGA6) or (MGA6.1)" on the whiteboard, to indicate in which version this issue was last seen.

Hello Marja,

I tried with Mageia-6-x86_64-DVD Classic Install DVD, Mageia-6.1-netinstall-nonfree-x86_64, and the screen got scrambled. I could not install mageia with this.

With Mageia-6.1-LiveDVD-Plasma-x86_64-DVD.iso (from a USB Key) this is what I got:

 - Boot Mageia 6.1 Live: Boots great!!
 - Boot Mageia 6.1 Live + use non-free video drivers: I got a scrambled screen, pressing the ESC key show me text saying it's Detecting Hardware and it boots fine.

 - Install Mageia 6.1 Live -- No scramble screen but in never got to install (Seems to be Freezen) I waited about 7 minutes.

 - Install Mageia 6.1 Live + use non-free video drivers - I got a scrambled screen, pressing the ESC key shows me text saying it's Detecting Hardware and it installs fine.

Thank You Marja,

And Yes I would love to test the 7beta1 ISOs

That's great! I don't see your name in the list here: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/QA_ISO_testers
Please add yourself to it :-)
Also, if you didn't yet become a member of https://ml.mageia.org/l/info/qa-discuss (the mailing list that is used by QA team to communicate about their work), then please become a member and write a mail to it, to introduce yourself and tell them you'd like to help test ISOs.

Hello Ezequiel, is this bug still valid with the latest Mageia-7 ISOs?

No response, and Mageia 6 is EOL, so closing as old.

Status: NEW => RESOLVED
Resolution: (none) => OLD
