Description of problem:

Kmix is always muted (volume level set to 0% = no sound) when I boot or reboot. Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA) [1002:4383].

(this is not an issue in Mandriva 2010 / KDE 4.3.5 on same hardware).
