Description AngryPenguin 2011-08-07 15:20:08 CEST
Description of problem:
After installation, the system can not connect to the internet via adsl usb modem brand Sagem F @ ast 800 ET3.
Modem Driver can be found in the kernel-firmware-extra-20110517-1.mga1.noarch. Unfortunately the package is not available on your first Mageia It must be downloaded from the Internet repository, but to do this you must have an Internet connection - which de facto connect without this package can not be.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kernel-firmware-extra-20110517-1.mga1.noarch

How reproducible:
Connect the usb adsl modem - preferably as it is this which means I used the Sagem F @ st 800 ET3, and try to configure your Internet connection. Is shown in the message that is needed ueagle-usb, which is not on the disc.

Finaly:
Solves the problem of installing kernel-firmware-extra-20110517-1.mga1.noarch with online repository. Only that you first need to install another system with Internet access, or use another computer running the Internet and download this package.
I believe that this package should be routinely included in the distribution, to avoid unnecessary confusion.

Kernel-firmware-extra has been splitted into 2 packages so that we can have only free one. kernel-firmware will be added in beta1.
