Description of problem: Plasma I know this is a carry over from M6. Upon executing something from a Plasma GUI desktop icon the Plasma GUI freezes solid. There is no way out other then a Ctrl-Shift-Backspace or in some cases a hard system forced reboot. In M6 it was a little ghosty and hard to reproduce. At least here in M7 I have found a way to reproduce it every time. When you drag an app from the Application Menu to the desktop you are given two options. They are "Copy Here" and "Link Here". With the Systems Settings -> Look And Feel -> Workspace Set to Oxygen If you drag lets say Firefox from the menu to the desktop, producing a desktop launch icon, selecting "Link Here" all is good. A single or double click on that icon launches Firefox just fine. If you drag an app off the Menu to the desktop to create a launch icon and select the "Copy Here" option when you click on that icon the desktop completely freezes. There is no other way out other then to hard reboot the machine or execute a: Ctrl-Shift-Backspace The Log out sequence then log back in and remove the icon. If the "Copy Here" option is so destructive it should not be an option. Or should be fixed. There are reasons for selecting "Copy Here". In M6, where the "Copy Here" option works just fine, I use it with Kwrite. Right button click on the Kwrite "Copy Here" desktop icon, select Properties, select the Application tab, in the Command space type: kwrite %U /home/wilcal/Documents/my_text_document.txt The text document icon then launches properly. In M7 the Plasma GUI freezes and the only way out is a hard reboot of the system or a Ctrl-Shift-Backspace user logout. If your lucky. I know I'm going to find lots of applications in M7 that respond this way. Notso many in M6.
