Description Rémi Verschelde 2011-08-05 19:19:56 CEST
Description of problem:
Could Picasa be packaged for Mageia?

I don't know if we should package v2.7 stable or v3.0 beta, though.

@ Rémi,

I've spent too much time trying to figure that out. I get the impression they're not eager to have the package in some other repository than their own:
http://www.google.com/linuxrepositories/

And I'm not good at reading juridical language, I might have missed something relevant here:
http://www.google.com/accounts/TOS

Do you still want the package in Mageia?

@ Remi

I should have given this link, too
http://picasa.google.com/linux/faq.html#5b

There it says:
Q. I'd rather just use my package manager to download and install Picasa.

Please see the instructions at http://www.google.com/linuxrepositories/.

Thanks for these links Marja.

It seems pretty clear then that we cannot distribute this software.

Oh, you closed this bug yourself :)

you might be interested in bug 1522, a request to include libesound0 because it is (or was, at the time the bug was filed) requested for Picasa.
I'll put you in the cc of that request
