From Bug 23685 : " I want to use CryFS, PV show it is wrong version: cryfs: Wrong version installed. The required version is 0.9.6. But I do not or can find cryfs to install on Mga6 " Searching for "cryfs" in package file names i find it only in the package plasma-vault-debuginfo; /usr/src/debug/plasma-vault-5.12.2/kded/engine/backends/cryfs

After some web search: https://cukic.co/2018/04/26/plasma-vault-the-new-backend-for-cryfs/ " As you might have seen before, there were some issues with CryFS for which I had to switch Vault to use EncFS by default for Plasma 5.12 since it is a long-term support release. " https://cukic.co/2018/01/28/plasma-vaults-and-different-cryfs-versions/ "CryFS is considered beta software by its developers." So please try to install package encfs and see if Plasma Vault use it successfully. It seems cryfs will be ok for next release of Plasma. https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/819ke8/plasma_vaults_if_encfs_has_known_weaknesses_and/ "EncFS has known weaknesses and CryFS hasn't been audited yet" ( If you have any specific need for encryption there are many ways, please ask on our forum :) )
Thanks for creating separate report for Cryfs. I have Encfs installed and did want to try Plasma Vault after reading about it. Encfs needs version 1.9.1. I do not have specific needs but do use Encfs standlone. Thanks.
In Cauldron for now cryfs was imported and plasma-vault recommends it!
