The "drakrpm" program crashed. Drakbug-17.88.3 caught it. I was looking to install the quick-usb-formatter-0.6-0.preview.mga6 package Wondered why on MGA6 64 bit with KDE Plasma, there were so many KDE4 (v14) and i586 package dependencies (I estimate list was 50 long, mostly i586 ones). I cancelled the install when there was a conflict with a seemingly unrelated package and either needed to be removed or replaced, then clicked on kio5-smtp package to see if that was needed. The crash happened shortly after that. There appears to have been a package name change between Plasma versions and 'kio5-smtp-16.12.3-1.mga6_x86_64' seems to have been replaced by 'ksmtp-17.12.2-1.mga6-x86_64', though other kio modules still have both v16 and v17 packages. detecting looping forever while trying to resolve dependencies. I cancelled the install and clicked on kio5-smtp, and the crash happened again and every subsequent time looking for kio5-smtp dependencies. Hi Andrew, Thanks for the bug report. I understand you still reproduce this crash? @ Thierry If just _clicking_ on kio5-smtp still causes this, what would then be the proper way to debug? As root run: urpmq -vv --debug kio5-smtp ?

http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/mageia.org/pub/mageia/distrib/6/i586/media/tainted/backports_testing If I try to uninstall ksmtp package, these are the dependencies listed for removal: - kmail-17.12.2-1.mga6.x86_64 - kmail-handbook-17.12.2-1.mga6.noarch - kmailtransport-17.12.2-1.mga6.x86_64 - lib64kpimsmtp5-17.12.2-1.mga6.x86_64
I can recreate the crash, selecting kio5-smtp in rpmdrake. The package kio5-smtp has been replaced by ksmtp, in the grand update to the newer version of kde plasma. My guess is that there is a missing conflict, and urpmi is not handling it well. Assigning to the kde maintainers. An updated ksmtp package with an explicit conflict on the kio5-smtp package would likely stop urpmi from getting into an endless loop, which is causing rpmdrake to crash. As to the initial problem installing quick-usb-formatter, I can't recreate that. It installed cleanly on my system only pulling in lib64f2fs0 and f2fs-tools.

Thanks for investigating. quick-usb-formatter is a bit of a red herring here, but it was what initially created the package conflict that caused me to investigate kio5-smtp and ksmtp. It still causes me problems when I try to install it, and I think there's another KDE4 to Plasma5 transition problem there, but I'll raise another bug to deal with that one.
Mageia 6 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2019-09-30. It is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we weren't able to fix it before Mageia 6's end of life. If you are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. If you would like to help fixing bugs in the future, don't hesitate to join the packager team via our mentoring program [1] or join the teams that fit you most [2].
