Description Georges Eckenschwiller 2011-07-30 18:11:24 CEST
Description of problem:

This network connection problem is recurrent for several version of Mandriva already.

When I do an installation from the DVD, at the end of the installation I set up the network (eth0 dhcp, freebox). I systematically connect failed during installation.

However the network configuration is correct since, after rebooting, the network works well, without making changes.

With the installation dvd, the defect was not critical.
But with the dual arch CD, it becomes critical, it is not possible to add additional network sources.

Note1: the problem does not depend on the network card. It is identical on five different computers, with at least four different cards.

Note2: when I do a netinstall (cd with boot.iso), so I configure the network from the beginning of the installation. In this case there is no failure at the end of installation, by installing and configuring exactly the same way.

Updates

Despite the failure message of the connection, I try to
do the updates.
Surprisingly, the connection works.

So what works ? what doesn't ?

> So what works ? what doesn't ?

1- At the beginning of the network installation does not work, after configuration.
It is therefore not possible to add an additional source.
However, with dual-arch would be necessary, even essential.

2- Towards the end of the installation there is the resume stage, again with the network configuration.
If I want to activate the network, I have an error message.

3- Just at the end of the installation is the stage of update.
If I answer yes, the update is done properly, through the network.

Ok thanks, so that is in stage2. Assign to the maintainer.
(I have found nothing useful in the log, Thierry, if I have missed something, feel free to tell me. :) )

Comment 13 Georges Eckenschwiller 2012-04-23 17:08:40 CEST
I tested Dual beta3 and the results are the following ones:

The test of the network, after configuration, indicates a defect.

But now, the connection is correctly made.
Thus, now, only the test is defective.

It seems that the defect is not solved.

See http://www.mageialinux-online.org/forum/topic-13867+drakx11.php

Personally I do not even any more try to realize this test at the end of installation.

Comment 19 Georges Eckenschwiller 2012-11-06 11:29:02 CET
Arrgh! I have just confused two things.
In fact, in the stage 'Summary', there are two defective tests:
- Test of the network configuration - > Failure of the test when I make the installation from a DVD.
- Test of the graphic configuration
Comment 20 Georges Eckenschwiller 2012-11-06 11:40:48 CET
Two specified:
- By making a netinstall, the result(profit) of the test is correct.
- With the DVD, the test fails, but the network is correctly configured

Severity: major => normal

Comment 21 Georges Eckenschwiller 2013-09-09 21:28:59 CEST
Is too old
