Does the sound work in other software? What is the media you want to play ? (and his codec)

Hi, all the files I can play with svlc-1.1.11-0.1.mga1.tainted.i586 + vlc-plugin-theora-1.1.11-0.1.mga1.tainted.i586. I have tested: .divx, .avi, .wmv, .flv, .mp4, .mov. All files work in MDV 2010.2 with Totem MP Ciao
what is the output of rpm -qa | grep gstreamer
Also what codecs was the file need to be played? try running totem from terminal and post the output here, ideally it prints some info about missing codecs.

This is all the output when you start totem from terminal and try to play the file?
Yes. The video runs. I have only no sound. Ciao
I see. Please install mplayer, and play the file from terminal: mplayer /path-to-file and post the output here. (mplayer output is usually very informative with respect to the codecs used in the file).
O.k. I have found my mistake. I have changed in Phonon "Internes Audio Analog Stereo" to the first place. Now I have sound. Thanks for your help. Ciao
But Totem doesn't use Phonon (only KDE apps use Phonon).
Ha, I have tested once again: With "HD-Audio Generic Digital Stereo (HDMI)" on the top = no sound, with "Internes Audio Analog Stereo" on the top I have sound. Ciao ???
It's PulseAudio I think and no Phonon

The kcm in systemsettings probably modifies pulseaudio config.
