Description of problem: If we assume that a user doesn't want to use his cellular/mobile phone as an access point to install Mageia because the amount of data used will exceed the data plan limit and the WIFI connection used at home uses WPA instead of WPE, there should be an option to connect to WPA connections. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Burn the full DVD iso to a USB drive. 2. Boot from the USB drive. 3. In the first step choose which network card to use and then choose if the connection uses WPA or WEP security. Footnote: Ubuntu already enables the user to connect to any of them in the installation.
Any chance to see this before Mageia 7 is released?
With the full DVD, you can just install from the DVD and use the WPA connection after reboot to get your updates. I guess you were talking about a network install? Yes, there is a chance that this get fixed before Mageia 7 is released. You only need to find someone who supplies a working patch for http://gitweb.mageia.org/software/drakx/tree/mdk-stage1/wireless.c :-) Anyway, this was reported before, closing as duplicate *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 9541 ***
