The mdv license was "GPL" which is not valid for Mageia. Once the correct license is found it will be ready to push to Cauldron.

The upstream source in http://home.mag.cx/messenger/source/ The license in the source package is gpl v2 According to http://mageia.org/wiki/doku.php?id=licensing_policy and http://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.html#GPLCompatibleLicenses gpl v2 is acceptable for Core.
Source RPM: dkms-syntek dkms-qc-usb => dkms-syntek dkms-qc-usb-messenger
Thanks for being interesting in my problem
For the dkms-syntek, the upstream source for the driver itself seems to be http://sourceforge.net/projects/syntekdriver/ which states it's released under both the bsd and gpl licenses, so it's ok for Core as well. Should a separate bug report be opened for that package?

Yes - maybe best to leave this one as it is and open another package request for dkms-cq-usb-messenger, with a link to it here.

dkms-syntek is now available in Cauldron core/release. Please test and report any issues here. Thanks.

What Barry meant were issues existing when the package was just pushed. Can you please open a new bug report? Product: Mageia Component: rpm packages Just file a bug for not working dkms-syntek and explain that dkms-syntek version 3.0.0 r107 fixes it
