Description Jeffrey Laramie 2018-07-15 19:48:10 CEST
Description of problem:
Cut/Copy using the right click menu options selects the previously cut/copied data instead of the highlighted data, and several other related problems that result in corrupted spreadsheets. See this bug report for all the details:
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118599

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
5.3.7.2-3.mga6. I was unable to reproduce this on a different Mageia 6 laptop that had not been updated recently. I wiped the old installation and reinstalled Mageia 6 on the laptop. Now that the current version is installed I can reproduce it on both machines with new Calc spreadsheets. Libreoffice has been unable to reproduce it with their non-Mageia versions of Calc.

How reproducible:
Highlight a cell or cells and use the right click menu to cut/copy and paste the data to a different cell. In my experimenting the incorrect data is pasted every other time. If you use shortcut keys to cut/copy and paste it works normally.

I'm marking this as critical since this appears to be a memory allocation issue that results in incorrect data being inserted into the spreadsheet, sometimes without any way for the user to know it's incorrect. Please review the entire libreoffice bug report as well as the attached documents to see the different manifestations and examples of the bug.

I can't reproduce this in cauldron. Did you try whether one of the versions suggested by upstream (5.4.7.2 or 6.0.5.2) work better? You could try to install one of the rpms from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/

Anyway, please start your Mageia Libreoffice Calc from a terminal/konsole with the command:

    oocalc 2>&1 | tee oocalc.txt

and reproduce the issue. Then attach oocalc.txt to this bug report.

Version 5.4.7.2 from the LibreOffice site does not contain the bug. Requested output is attached.

Hi,

Which desktop environment do you use?

Using LXDE (Mageia6 x86_64), with a new libreoffice profile and using libreoffice-5.3.7.2-3.mga6, either in a Virtualbox VM or in a physical desktop machine, either with parcellite (a clipboard manager) running or without it, I was unable to reproduce the problem: cut/copy and paste from right click menu behaves exactly the same as from keyboard shortcuts, sorry.

Best regards,

Nico.

I don't have LXDE installed but I tried logging in using IceWM (which doesn't have a background BTW and leaves closed windows visible). Calc worked normally.

I can however reproduce the bug on a fresh install of Mageia 6 on a different machine using Plasma, so this may be specific to the Plasma+Calc combination. It's odd that cut and paste works normally for all my other programs including LibreOffice Writer.

I did a little experimenting and if I copy and paste using the right click menu and the wrong data is pasted, when I paste that data to a different program the wrong data is pasted there as well. Copying data from other programs is always pasted correctly into Calc.

5.3.7.2-3 has been replaced by 6.1.5.2-1.2 which does not contain the bug so this is no longer relevant.
