When bootloader-config runs while installing a new kernel, the system crashed after running out of memory and swap (16GB ram, 32GB swap). Similar to bug 5036, this was due to an iso copied to a usb stick that has the start sector set to 0 for the partition. Instead of reporting too many partitions, it goes into a loop eating memory till the system crashes. Encountered this when installing a new kernel for testing, with the iso from https://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/krd2018 having been copied to a usb stick. It's a hybrid iso with the start sector set to zero in the partition table.
