Description of problem: when attempt to establish a communication with skypeforlinux-8.22.0.2-1, it rings about 2 times, and the communication is soon cancelled with the message: "your connection is too weak, try later" this bug appeared from skype version 8.20 (skype fine worked until version 8.18) my internet connection: optical fiber with speed 800Mb/s (officially 100Mb/s) I have also a skype-8.22.0.2 on my laptop under Windows7, and it works fine; hence, it's not an internet problem, by typically a skypeforlinux problem. I'd just have a long chat with skype customers service, and they will look at the problem. But it's perhaps a bug of mageia6 (voip problem) skypeforlinux definitely doesn't work with mageai5 Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Hi Peter! As you may know Mageia 5 is EOL (Read here: https://www.mageia.org/en/support/), and I therefor suggest that you upgrade/update to Mageia 6 (alternatively a fresh install of Mageia 6) to get rid of that problem. Other then that I don't think this can be solved in Mageia since Skype is proprietary and no longer in the official medias.

@ Kristoffer Peter filed this bug against Mageia 6, he only added that skypeforlinux doesn't work at all in 5, after saying "But it's perhaps a bug of mageia6 (voip problem)" ;-) @ Peter, do you see any errors in a terminal/konsole after having started skypeforlinux from it and then tried to make a connection? And if you start, as root, journalctl -f and then try to establish a connection, do you maybe see a(nother) relevant error there? @ AL13N CC'ing you, because I remember you've been doing things with voip. I have no idea how to find out whether there's a problem with voip in Mageia and I hope you'll read this & have time to help. @ sander85 Or, since you maintained get-skype in the past, maybe you can help find out whether there's a bug in _Mageia_ that affects skypeforlinux?

So, there's no longer a reason to believe that there's a problem with VOIP in Mageia. Closing.

Closing. I have installed an old version of skypeforlinux: get-skypeforlinux-8.18.0.6-1 I have found on the rosa's site, and it seems to work; I recall that rosa is a russian fork of mandriva

Besides, two of our developers told me today that Skype uses its _own_ protocol instead of an open source protocol for VoIP like SIP, so 8.22 not working cannot be caused by a flaw in a Mageia VoIP package.

I totally agree with you all the more so I tried today the last version of web.skype encapsulated in chrome browser, and it works very well I think it's the best solution to use skype: open chrome browser and type web skype in google, and skype opens; you can save it in your bookmarks; I expect soon to receive news from the technical squad of skype, and I let you inform
bug fixed with the new version skypeforlinux-8.24.0.2-1
