Description Morgan Leijström 2018-03-21 10:35:34 CET
Description of problem, Steps to Reproduce:

Boinc manager have settings for being nice when the computer is used: It can suspend the GPU, it can lower the use of memory, and it can pause CPU if usage is over x percent. It can also pause when any of a few named applications is running.

NOTHING of that works.

Results:

a) I often forget to shut it down, which can lead to problems when i use the computer

b) i often forget to enable it again, so it do not do its work naturally

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Since Mandriva times until now... Me finally getting upset about it...

How reproducible: Always

Example: I had lots of things going on, enabled boinc, went for coffe, and whe ni got back computer was unresponsive for more than ten minutes ( /var which is where both boinc and system log and some other stuff resides is on the same spinning platter...)

(with kernels before 4.14.25 it used to never return...)

Yeah, fun.

As a workarond and also complement: is it possible to make a list of what kernel should sacrifice first hand?
Or some other method to make boinc being turned down. Cant use clock as my hours at the workstation is... uh, dynamic ;)

Mageia 6 is EOL.

Works now for me on Mageia 7, boinc-client-7.14.2-3.mga7.src.rpm

64 bit, and i let boincmgr start boinc after i log into Plasma

Both detection of CPU usage and keyboard use works perfectly :)

Resolution: (none) => FIXED
