Description of problem: HP Pavilion dv5 laptop freezes when trying to go to suspen or hibernate mode. The suspend/hibernate process starts, but at a certain point the sytem freezes and i can only restart with power off/power on. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): pm-utils-1.4.1-3.mga1 How reproducible: Every time, trying to go to suspend/hibernate mode either by power saving in KDE or by pm-suspen/pm-hibernate command the system freezes and the shift button blinks (kernel panic?). This happens since i tried the Fn+F5 buttons which should also lead to suspend mode. Before, from fresh installation to the trial with Fnn+F5 suspend/hibernate mode worked fine. There are no error messages in /var/log/messages or /var/log/pm-suspend.log files. I don't think it has to do anythin with video card, because the same error occurs also if i go to init 3 and do a pm-suspend. maybe there is a problem with the hard disc, because during hibernate process as soon as it starts writing to disc the system freezes. The strange thing is, that if i boot in save mode (single user mode) the pm-suspend command works perfectly, so this problem persists only bootin in "normal" mode. Steps to Reproduce: 1. boot in "linux" 2. do pm-suspen/pm-hibernate or close the laptop cover 3. the systems stars with suspen/hibernate proces but freezes at a certain point, shift button is blinking. you can exit only by powering off the laptop.
Priority: Normal => High
