Description Dick Gevers 2018-02-10 21:14:31 CET
Description of problem:

Bought HP laptop in autumn for Cauldron.

lspcidrake -vv |grep 723 shows:

8723de : Realtek Semiconductor Co.,|Device d723 [NETWORK_OTHER] (vendor:10ec device:d723 subv:102c subd:8319)

There was no Realtek Linux driver when the laptop was obtained. Now there is at:
https://github.com/smlinux/rtl8723de

Via the download of the zip file there and after unzipping the commands "make" and "make install" built the driver for me and it works when configured correctly with mcc

But I would prefer the automagic build for every new kernel be it with a nonfree (part of) an rpm package or via a dkms build, rather than the installation from a "foreign" zipfile.

Thanks beforehand for enabling same.

Severity major as wifi not working without (I had wired network before wifi)
