Description Nicolas Lécureuil 2018-02-07 08:30:38 CET
To be able to update KF5 ( KWayland ) we need in mageia 6 a new version of wayland.

We updated mageia 6 to version 1.14.0

Can you test that gnome still works with new wayland/weston ?

gnome-shell uses wayland by default in mageia 6

MGA6-32 on Dell Latitude D600 Mate
No installation issues.
This is not a conclusive test (no Gnome on this laptop) but at least none of the usual operations are broken.

Been using it for ~1 days so far without issues on Gnome x86_64 install

Should probably be tested on i586 too

Comment 6 Nicolas Lécureuil 2018-02-09 16:11:19 CET
just tested on i586 and everything seems OK.

Can someone from the QA test this too ?

logged out and in - gnome did not launch - returned to login screen (SDDM)

re-booted
Gnome (Wayland) launched normally

Tested several commonly used applications
no regressions noted

looks OK for mga6-64 on this system (after a re-boot)

I assume that the item labelled "Gnome" in the login dialogue uses Wayland
On this system the item labelled "Gnome (Wayland)" just re-displays the login dialogue

on mga6-32 Gnome on 4.14.16-server-1.mga6

- weston-3.0.0-1.mga6.i586
- weston-libs-3.0.0-1.mga6.i586

Re-booted and Gnome launched normally

Tested several commonly used applications

No regressions noted

Looks OK on this system:

Machine: Device: desktop Mobo: ECS model: GeForce7050M-M v: 1.0

Graphics: Card: NVIDIA GF108 [GeForce GT 630]

Comment 9 Nicolas Lécureuil 2018-02-10 23:34:02 CET
seems OK,

can we validate this ?
Comment 10 James Kerr 2018-02-11 12:30:09 CET
I would prefer to have seen more testing by habitual Gnome users, but based on the testing done and the fact that this update is needed for progress to be made on the pending QT/plasma/KF updates I have added the OK's and validated this update.

The advisory (comment#2) needs to be uploaded to SVN.

The updated SRPM's are:
wayland-1.14.0-1.3.mga6.src.rpm
weston-3.0.0-1.mga6.src.rpm

The packages can then be pushed to updates.
