I took further tests. Experienced the same behavior in otter Browser and Opera
When we do the big Qt5/Plasma update for Mageia 6, we should also update qupzilla. That appears to not be your problem though, it looks like the nouveau video driver is causing the crashes on your system. You can try switching to the NVIDIA one.
Uh, thanks for response. Yes, i shredded my graphic card and sport the mainboard gpu atm. did not know, the gpu would affect browsers. Lesson learned. How to find out which driver could fit ?
CC: (none) => marja11Summary: Qupzilla exits / freezes => nouveau crashes several browsers (Qupzilla, Otter and Opera)Source RPM: Version: 2.0.2-1.mga6 => (none)Assignee: bugsquad => kernel
If you have the nonfree repo enabled, the Mageia Control Center should allow you to switch to the NVIDIA driver.
I had NVidia switched to 6-7 series, which resembles the MB GPU and axed nouveau. Restart brought me to the Good luck screen, where i picked propritary driver and let go. Nouvou thing has been reinstalled. Nvidia is set to 6 - 7 series. Otter and Qupzilla don´t start any more
I have no idea what you just said. Good luck.
Ah. Sorry. Ahm, i uninstalled the nouveau driver and changed the nvidia driver, then rebooted. After the startscreen, where you pick the kernel, it fell back to a black screen, that told, i should become root and enter drakx or drakx11 (?) to manually set the drivers needed or manipulated a config file. The screen end with a " Good Luck " wish.
I had NVIDIA for GeForce 420 and later and NVIDIA for GeForce 6xxx and GeForce 7xxx installed. I was a bit confused, because, normally MCC alerts in case there is a collusion. I uninstalled 420 now and it works.
Half roll back. Qupzilla starts, but still exits.
qupzilla --disable-gpu seems to do. I found it here https://github.com/QupZilla/qupzilla/issues/2589 The Mageia Version 2.0.2 Qupzilla is outdated.
Mageia 6 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2019-09-30. It is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we weren't able to fix it before Mageia 6's end of life. If you are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. If you would like to help fixing bugs in the future, don't hesitate to join the packager team via our mentoring program [1] or join the teams that fit you most [2].
