Reading this, it looks like you were trying to install Mageia, so I'm a bit confused. For this problem in traditional (non-Live) installer, it would be great if you'd attach report.bug.xz, see the explanation here https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Triage_guide#Installer-related_bugs For Live installer, please scroll down in that page to https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Triage_guide#Live_installs For the problem in an installed system, please attach fdisk-l.txt that is the result of running, as root fdisk -l > fdisk-l.txt and please reproduce: > he ask me for erase all data on my RAID disque !? (partition table > corrupted)... and then run, as root: journalctl -ab > journal.txt and attach journal.txt to this report (compress with xz if it's too large). > i think this software is very bad for new users or some other people why > dont use gparted for exemple ?? > It might be more work to integrate gparted into our tools (including into installer) than to fix diskdrake. But even if it would be a lot less work: _someone_ needs to do it. If you're a developer and can help with that, then you're welcome to provide your patches. Diskdrake in drakxtools and in drakx-installer-stage2 comes from http://gitweb.mageia.org/software/drakx/ If you're not a developer, then becoming a Mageia packager would increase the chance that one of our developers can work on this, because then our developers could use the time they now use for packaging to fix our tools instead. https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Becoming_a_Mageia_Packager As you know, we're a community distribution, so Mageia is made by Mageia users in our spare time.

Does this still apply in Cauldron? Bug reporter: Can you test Mageia 8 beta 1 ISO to report if this still apply?

Summary: not reconize RAID disk and impossible installation => Installer not recognize RAID disk and installation is impossibleCC: (none) => ouaurelien
Using mageia 8 beta 1, in the installer I can get to the point where it recognized my boot drive. It still can't recognize the raid array during installation, but that is a minor issue. I didn't install 8 beta 1, but it looks like I could at least format the boot drive.
Despite RAID utils in our distribution, you can't use your RAID array to install Mageia on it. Already assigned to the package maintainer. (Please set the status to 'assigned' if you are working on it)

I don't want to install mageia on my RAID array, though someone else might want to do that. I have a dedicated boot drive, which is now recognized during the boot process of 8 beta 1. This is much better than mageia 7.1

This is much better than mageia 7.1 OK, RAID Array should be done at Installation time: Mageia Tools Maintainers, please correct if I'm wrong, I think Installation on already set RAID Array is unsupported today?
