Description of problem: Hi. Just installed MGA6 and I saw that when I try to install the Flash Player for Firefox, it is installed: 1. flash-player-plugin (Flash package on PPAPI for Chromium-based browsers) 2. freshplayerplugin When Adobe drop support for NPAPI Flash for Linux this is good solution but now Adobe back to support NPAPI Flash for Linux again. So in my opinion we don't need packages like freshplayerplugin, because this package not provide "native" Flash player for NPAPI from Adobe but only wrapped flash for PPAPI to make it work for NPAPI and this can cause a lot of issue and it is unofficial way. This way was good sometime when Adobe did not support NPAPI for Linux. Today is unnecessary. So in my opinion - freshplayerplugin should be removed or just unlinked from Flash dependencies and instead this packages start providing official NPAPI Adobe Flash. Just check https://get.adobe.com/pl/flashplayer/otherversions/ Like u see Adobe once again distributes both version for Linux one PPAPI Flash and also new version of NPAPI Flash. Also look here http://blogs.adobe.com/flashplayer/2016/08/beta-news-flash-player-npapi-for-linux.html This is link to adobe blog where they announce back to providing Linux support for NPAPI Flash. How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install flash for Firefox 2. See that it install PPAPI flash for Chromium and wrapped freshplayer instead native npapi flash from adobe What I expect: 1. Unlink from flash dependencies package called freshplayerplugin 2. Start providing official Adobe Flash player for NPAPI 3. Done :)
There are some some features only enabled in the PPAPI version, so not all of the reasons for the switch are gone. Anyway, we have already discussed this to death and the decision has been made. Fortunately Flash will be dead in a few years and this will all not matter.
