Comment 5 Len Lawrence 2018-05-23 18:01:33 CEST
Mageia 6, x86_64

Did not understand the reproducer procedure in the initial bug report so simple launched the application:
$ monitor-parse-edid
Unescaped left brace in regex is deprecated, passed through in regex; marked by <-- HERE in m/.*? = { <-- HERE / at /bin/monitor-parse-edid line 58.

Updated the package.

$ monitor-parse-edid &
[1] 9418
$ sudo journalctl | grep mga-bg-res

There was nothing reported for the time the command was run but there were oldr messages from the pre-update test.

May 23 16:41:01 difda audit[1]: SERVICE_START pid=1 uid=0 auid=4294967295 ses=4294967295 msg='unit=mga-bg-res comm="systemd" exe="/usr/lib/systemd/systemd" hostname=? addr=? terminal=? res=success'
May 23 16:41:01 difda audit[1]: SERVICE_STOP pid=1 uid=0 auid=4294967295 ses=4294967295 msg='unit=mga-bg-res comm="systemd" exe="/usr/lib/systemd/systemd" hostname=? addr=? terminal=? res=success'

Interpreting these results as a success for the patch.
