Setting version to cauldron, because package requests will usually be done for cauldron first and then be available in next stable release cc'ing Florian, IIRC he isn't only interested in printers, but in scanners, too

The library is not missing, please check the output of "urpmf libsane-epson2" command. It is contained in libsane1/lib64sane package. @Jean Christophe: What's the problem with your scanner? Is it not detected, or is it not scanning as normal user? Please show the outputs of "sane-find-scanner" as root with the scanner connected and also "scanimage -L" as root with the scanner connected.

@ tuxmips I think that you are using the wrong driver. The 1250 is not listed on the page that you quote. (I don't think that we tested them with xsane, but I see no reason why they would not work with it.) IIRC you need to install the iscan package first and then the plugin package, but first of all remove the Mageia sane-backends-iscan package if you have it installed.
Hi thanks for your answer. But i do not really see where the epson Perfection is not listed ! I explain that Xsane see the good driver but i have an I/O error :( By the way, i have already try the rpm for 386 systems on the PC of my sister in law few weeks ago without success but i will try again on my PC. But to test again, i think that i must remove before the epson iscan rpm. And sorry for the priority field, but i thint that it's me who change the priority :(

I installed the iscan package first and then the plugin package, but first I remove the Mageia sane-backends-iscan package except sane-backends because if i do that i desinstall also drakconf and other softs system ! On reflection, I think that it was an i586 system on which I installed the 1250. I don't think that I've ever installed it on a 64 bit system. Have you ever had it working on a 64 bit linux system? It is a very old model (at least 10 years, I think). It is possible that Epson may have decided not to support it on 64 bit linux systems.
for information : the perfection 1250 work "out of the box" on the laptop's wife that is under mageia 3 (x86-64 system) !!!!! (Toshiba Portege A600-142) I will retry this evening but i think that it's necessary to work on this regression. The mageia 3 choose the 1250/Photo driver and not the 1250 only. And (under m3) : xsane show that the driver is a plustek. I will desinstall epson i386 driver.
If it works on your wife, we must have your wife's specifications.

well... I try to do the same configuration : and i install the same rpm packages until the cofiguration of the dll. conf (i comment epson, epson2) Without success. Xsane, only find the plustek driver. Then i close Xsane, reopened it and xsane find the Bison Webcam driver :-( Mageia 4 makes me crazy. I think that's its a problem of "rights" on the system. But i am not an expert... On my wife's laptop i have : - lib64sane 1 1.0.23 - sane-backends 1.0.23 - xsane 0.998 - lib64sane-hpaio1 3.12.9 sane-backends-iscan is not installed ! Im agree with you :) But note that i,at this time, have already removed the epson proprietary drivers and i come back with only mageia packages. And y try to have the "same" configuration of my wife's laptop. Without success. In fact, the epson drivers internet site gives bad informations and to find the last "good" drivers, it's necessary to find the last drivers with an other scanner. So make a research with a more recent scanner as the V550 at this adress: http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/search/01/search/?OSC=LX Download : - iscan-data-1.29.0-2.noarch.rpm - iscan-2.29.3-1.usb0.1.ltdl7.i386.rpm - but find iscan-plugin-gt-7200-1.0.0-1.c2.i386.rpm with a research on the same site with Perfection 1250 Then if necessary : desinstall saned & all previous iscan rpm on your system Then make this commands on your system : - urpmi iscan-data-1.29.0-2.noarch.rpm - urpmi iscan-2.29.3-1.usb0.1.ltdl7.i386.rpm - rpm -i --nodeps iscan-plugin-gt-7200-1.0.0-1.c2.i386.rpm It's will be ok with xsane :-) For my laptop it's OK :-) I will make a new try ont the laptop of my sister in law as soon as is possible and after that you will can closed this bug.
