Description Raoul 2017-12-19 23:35:23 CET
Description of problem:
The / directory is apparently full, but isn't.

df /
Sys. de fichiers Taille Utilisé Dispo Uti% Monté sur
/dev/sda5 4.9G 4.6G 0 100% /

There should be 300 Mo free. Erasing tmp and unnecessry files do not permit the recover some sapce. Question : How to clean the disk ?

This is the 3nd time it appens. Lats times, I had to reformat the partition and reinstall the system in totality.

Hi.

On the root (/) file system, there is a certain percent of disk space reserved for the root user. See this discussion for more information:
https://www.redhat.com/archives/ext3-users/2009-January/msg00026.html

And I think 5GB for / may be a tad small unless you have separated /usr, /var, /tmp and so on to their separate partitions. It may be a good idea to increase the size of / if possible.

Cheers,
Stig

Also note that with lots of small files the file system can run out of inodes
before running out of space. Use "df -i" to view inode usage.

See https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/26598/how-can-i-increase-the-number-of-inodes-in-an-ext4-filesystem
for a discussion of the problem.
